Oxford Pride cannot operate without its volunteers and each years' success is down to it's volunteers and their experience of managing events. We are always looking out for new people with any level of experience to join our management team, get in touch with us secretary@oxfordpride.uk.

Current Vacancies:

Do you have administrative office skills, a keen eye for details, methodical work ethic and ability to work on your own.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Overseeing new membership sign ups.
  • b) Maintaining an up-to-date register of members and register of interests, which should be available to any other Director upon request.
  • c) Supporting the Volunteer Officer to maintain an up-to-date register of volunteers, which should be available to any other Director upon request.
  • d) Ensuring that Oxford Pride Group follows the UK Data Protection Act 2018 for the above and for all other storage of data, including promptly responding to queries about data, and requests to access rights to data.
  • e) Coordinating correspondence with all members, including the advertisement of all meetings and provision of agendas.
  • f) Taking minutes at all General Meetings, Board of Trustee Meetings, and the Annual General Meeting, and promptly circulating them to relevant members (this role may be delegated in the case of illness, exceptional circumstances, holiday, or other suitable agreed reason).
  • g) Working with the Treasurer and the Chair to ensure the financial regulations and contracts are adhered to in line with Company Law, Charity Law, and the Policies of the charity.
  • h) Listed as the Company Secretary and a Director on Companies House.
  • i) Being available throughout the annual Parade Day to answer any queries and to be in charge of any donations taken on the day (excluding in the case of illness or other exceptional circumstances).
  • j) Must attend all Board of Trustee Meetings (excluding in the case of illness, exceptional circumstances, holiday, or other suitable agreed reason).
  • k) Must assist the Chair in overseeing all activities of the Group.

Have you got an keen eye for figures, the ability to pay close attention to detail and previous experience for budgeting in a business enviroment? If so we are looking for you.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Managing, forecasting and budgeting of Oxford Pride Group accounts.
  • b) Forecasting the costs of the Festival events and Parade Day, and associated fundraising events (in liaison with relevant Committee Officers).
  • c) Issuing invoices and receipts for any income received.
  • d) Issuing purchase orders for expenditure, to be matched to invoices.
  • e) Providing a basic financial summary at all General Meetings, and a detailed financial report at the Annual General Meeting.
  • f) Providing up-to-date accounts to any Member of the Group on request.
  • g) Ensuring all monies are banked and recorded appropriately, in line with both Charity and Company Law.
  • h) Filing Annual Returns and Accounts (in liaison with external accountants).
  • i) Overseeing the financial regulations and contracts in line with Company Law, Charity Law, and the Policies of the charity (In liaison with the Chair and Secretary).
  • j) Managing any grants or funding schemes Oxford Pride Group may make available from time to time.

We are looking for strong, dynamic, driven individuals to drive Oxford Pride forward and ready for the future. You should have a good understanding of what the role of a Non-Executive Director entails and its importance to the governance & legal responsibility of the organisation. Ideally you will come from a professional or business background in the voluntary, public or private sector and have organisational and management experience. A background in fundraising, finance, corporate sponsorship, working with community groups or young people would be particularly useful to complement the current skills base of the board.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Overseeing all activities of the charity and acting as an advisor to the Management Committee.
  • b) Ensuring that the charity complies with Charity Law and with the requirements of the Charity Commission as a regulator.
  • c) Ensuring that the Management Committee prepare reports on what the charity has achieved, and file Annual Returns and Accounts as required by law.
  • d) Ensuring that the charity does not breach any of the requirements or rules set out in its Policies, and that it remains true to the charitable purpose and objectives defined within.
  • e) Acting as a neutral mediator should any dispute arise between any party (whether internal or external), with the ability to thoroughly investigate, produce a report on the dispute to the Members and Management Committee, and resolve the dispute.
  • f) Must attend at least one in every three General Meetings.
  • g) Must attend all Board of Trustee Meetings (excluding in the case of illness, exceptional circumstances, holiday, or other suitable agreed reason).
  • h) Must be a minimum of one Non-Executive Director, with a maximum of three in office at any one time, and may not hold any other role within the Group.

Have you got experience and knowledge of providing for those who have disabilities whether its hidden, visible, physical, mental health or other needs? We have an important role to play in ensuring all our events are available and accessible.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Working with the Oxford Pride Committee to promote accessibility requirements throughout the planning and management of Festival events and Parade Day, in line with Attitude is Everything’s Charter of Best Practice.
  • b) Identifying and communicating with potential groups and organisations to help improve Oxford Pride’s access provision.
  • c) Developing and maintaining records of Oxford Pride’s access activities in line with Attitude is Everything’s Charter of Best Practice.
  • d) Promoting Oxford Pride’s access achievements to stakeholders and to people who may benefit from the charity’s activities.
  • e) Ideally, familiarity with dealing with access requirements and supporting people with disabilities, mental health conditions or other additional needs, in either a personal or professional capacity.

Have you got sales experience? We are looking for a keen and experienced person to take overall responsibility of our commerical marketplace and food vendors for our Pride day and events.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Organising and managing the bookings of commercial and charity stalls for Oxford Pride Parade Day.
  • b) Selling concessions such as bars, food stalls, fun fairs etc. at the discretion of the Management Committee (in liaison with relevant Committee Officers).
  • c) Designing the layout of stalls and concessions (in liaison with the Operations Officer).
  • d) Working in consultation with the Operations Officer to ensure that all stalls and concessions are suitably contracted and that required licenses have been obtained.
  • e) Assisting with the provision of a Family Area and Quiet Zone during Oxford Pride Parade Day (in liaison with the Community Officer).
  • f) Assisting with set up and take down on Oxford Pride Parade Day (within reason).
  • g) Membership of Oxford Pride Group is compulsory.

Good with internal & external communications along with social media management and have a keen eye for detail? We are looking for an experienced person to take overall responsibility of our communications to the press & media, sponsors, supporters & members.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Overseeing the Oxford Pride social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter) throughout the year, including writing content for posts, creating events, and responding to queries from members of the public (in liaison with the Creative and Accessibility Officers).
  • b) Acting as a single point of contact for all media contacts, ensuring to receive agreement on the content of outgoing communications with Directors where required.
  • c) Writing and sending press releases to raise awareness of Oxford Pride news and events, in online and print media, radio, TV, etc. (in liaison with the Entertainment, Festival, Community, and Fundraising & Sponsorship Officers, and Directors).
  • d) Providing ‘live’ social media content on Parade Day, with regular updates about ongoing events on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
  • e) Externally presenting a unified message in relation to the decisions of Oxford Pride Group.
  • f) Membership of Oxford Pride Group is compulsory.

Have you got experience dealing with the local communities?

Responsibilities:

  • a) Being a contact for Oxford Pride for a variety of community groups within Oxfordshire and the wider community, seeking opportunities where Oxford Pride can assist community groups.
  • b) Liaising and building a close rapport with community groups to host events, including family-friendly events (in liaison with the Accessibility, Festival, Fundraising & Sponsorship, and Volunteer Officers).
  • c) Providing timely updates to the Communications Officer for the promotion of all events.
  • d) Producing, updating, and delivering education and information workshops to local community groups, businesses, and educational establishments.
  • e) Providing reports on community events to the Oxford Pride Committee.

We are looking for an energetic person to join the team and manage the company visual brand. This role will suit an experienced visual graphic designer and previously worked within brand management.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Taking responsibility for designing and/or sourcing the visual branding for Oxford Pride each year, in line with the annual theme decided by the Committee.
  • b) Creating visual design elements for the promotion of fundraisers, Festival events and Parade Day across multiple mediums in a timely manner (in liaison with the Communications, Festival, Entertainment, Community, Accessibility, and Website Officers).
  • c) Creating visual design elements for all publicity which aims to increase public awareness of Pride (in liaison with the Communications Officer and Directors).
  • d) Designing all Pride branded items and merchandise, as agreed to be created by the Committee.
  • e) Designing all Pride signage to promote awareness of Pride around Oxfordshire and further afield, as agreed to be created by the Committee.
  • f) Aiding and facilitating any and all other creative requirements as required by the Committee.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Holding overall responsibility for all entertainment on Parade Day, and at any other events Pride may organise.
  • b) Researching and booking performers and acts for the main stage, to be discussed and agreed with the Committee before final confirmation.
  • c) Draft contracts from existing templates and negotiate on payments with main stage acts and/or management companies (in liaison with the Fundraising & Sponsorship Officer and Directors).
  • d) Coordinating local acts for the unpaid community stage, by advertising the opportunity to perform, and organising and reviewing applications (in liaison with the Communications and Website Officers, and Directors).
  • e) Providing timely updates to the Communications Officer for the promotion of all acts.
  • f) Maintaining ongoing lines of communications with all acts to keep them updated about event timings and any changes, and answer their queries.
  • g) Making arrangements for the day, including arranging running orders with realistic timings and coordinating the backstage areas for both stages (in liaison with the Operations, Accessibility, and Volunteer Officers).
  • h) Appointing a stage management team for Parade Day, and other Pride events that require it.
  • i) Membership of Oxford Pride Group is compulsory.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Organising and overseeing the management all events during the Oxford Pride Festival week, excluding the main Parade Day event (in liaison with the Accessibility, Community, Fundraising & Sponsorship and Volunteer Officers).
  • b) Liaising with local community groups, businesses and venues to arrange a diverse range of events that celebrate LGBTQIA+ life in Oxfordshire, and appeal to a variety of audiences (including family-friendly events).
  • c) Contacting and liaising with acts, performers, and other external contacts to provide entertainment at Festival events.
  • d) Gathering all the necessary information and materials in a timely manner for Festival events to be promoted in the Pride Guide (in liaison with the Creative and Communications Officers, and Directors).
  • e) Sourcing suitable prizes for Festival week competitions (in liaison with the Fundraising & Sponsorship Officer and Directors).
  • f) Membership of Oxford Pride Group is compulsory.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Creating and updating the Oxford Pride sponsorship pack to create packages for parade, stalls, act sponsorship, etc. (in liaison with the Directors).
  • b) Using the sponsorship pack to approach local and national businesses/companies, to obtain funding for Oxford Pride and its events (in liaison with the Directors, to ensure organisations are in-keeping with the aims and spirit of Oxford Pride).
  • c) Maintaining close communication with the Treasurer with regards to incoming funds, for the coordination of invoices.
  • d) Communicating with the Communications and Website Officers to provide updated logos and information for sponsor/supporter exposure.
  • e) Coordinating the sale of advertising space within the Pride Guide.
  • f) Applying for any grants and/or benefits for which Oxford Pride may be eligible (in liaison with the Directors).
  • g) Assisting on the planning and delivery of fundraising events (in liaison with the Festival, Entertainment, and Community Officers).
  • h) Membership of Oxford Pride Group is compulsory.

Responsibilities:

  • a) Ensuring that the legal and health & safety requirements for the Oxford Pride Parade Day are met, including coordinating first aid support (in liaison with the Directors).
  • b) Being the representative of Oxford Pride for the relevant local authorities, to provide event information, risk assessments, road closure information, etc.
  • c) Working with the Parade, Marketplace, and Accessibility Officers to establish the parade route and stall layout on the main and community stage sites, and make appropriate operational plans.
  • d) Working with the Entertainment and Accessibility Officers to establish backstage requirements for the main and community stages.
  • e) Applying for the Public Entertainments Licence (or equivalent) and acting as the named person on the licence, thereby having overall responsibility for the event site, including the set up and take down of stages and stalls.
  • f) Managing security for the Parade Day by appointing Senior Steward(s), and organising a volunteer stewarding team for the day.
  • g) Membership of Oxford Pride Group is compulsory.

  • a) Organising and overseeing the planning of the Oxford Pride Parade, including obtaining any required approvals and notifying the necessary authorities, such as emergency services, Councils, and Highways representatives (in liaison with the Operations, Accessibility, and Volunteer Officers).
  • b) Advertising and managing bookings of groups and individuals to take part in the parade, including establishing stewards for each group (in liaison with the Communications Officer).
  • c) Ensuring parade stewards and security staff are fully briefed in writing before the event, and verbally on the day, to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • d) Leading the parade on the day, and providing ongoing communications to Committee Officers and stewards to ensure the parade remains on route.
  • e) Membership of Oxford Pride Group is compulsory.

  • a) Advertising for volunteers consistently throughout the year, to create a large pool to support Oxford Pride fundraisers, Festival events, and Parade Day (in liaison with the Communications, Website, and Accessibility Officers).
  • b) Maintaining an up-to-date register of volunteers, which should be available to the Directors at any time.
  • c) Sending regular communications and organising social events for volunteers approximately monthly, to maintain high interest (in liaison with the Community Officer).
  • d) Ensuring volunteers are fully briefed in writing before the event they are working on, and verbally on the day, to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • e) Designing and executing a volunteer rota for Parade Day, ensuring volunteers have sufficient breaks and that all posts are covered when required (in liaison with the Parade, Operations, and Entertainment Officers).
  • f) Membership of Oxford Pride Group is compulsory.

  • c) Ensuring that sponsor/supporter logos and adverts are maintained and updated as changes are made (in liaison with the Fundraising & Sponsorship Officer).
  • d) Coordinating online donations made via the website (in liaison with the Treasurer).
  • e) Providing community announcements from all parts of the LGBTQIA+ community via the website (in liaison with the Community Officer).

Become a Member

By becoming a member of Oxford Pride you show committement and support to our activities, membership also gives you voting rights at meetings and allow you to stand as a Committee Member. To become a member of Oxford Pride Group, contact the Secretary or your welcome to just turn up at our next meeting which are on the 3rd Tuesday of each month between 7pm and 9pm at the Town Hall in Oxford. Membership is required to vote on any decisions, but anyone is allowed to contribute ideas, and ask questions of the committee.

We continually seek Trustees to join our dedicated Board of Trustees.

Trustees provide an essential and legal requirement for all charitable organisations. Trustees are recruited to take overall responsibility of the organisation, ensuring that the charity delivers its charitable aims and works within both recommended and legal guidelines. Ideally you will come from a professional or business background in the voluntary, public or private sector and have organisational and management experience. A background in fundraising, finance, corporate sponsorship, working with community groups or young people would be particularly useful to complement the current skills base of the board.

Trustees meet on a 2-monthly basis between 18:00 and 18:45 on the 3rd Tuesday of the month and Management Committee meetings every 3rd Tuesday of the month between 19:00 and 21:00. We ask that prospective Trustees are able to commit themselves to at least 5 of the 7 Board of Trustees meetings and 10 of the 12 Management Committee meetings.
